SuSE 9.2/laptop : r8169 netcard


install SuSE 9.2 on a laptop, 1 big problem
the network card realtek chip 8169 does not work (see below netcard info

Are you sure that your network card doesn't work ? The RT8169 card has been supported for a long time. What does it say in Yast ? It may just be a matter of switching it on. Alternatively, you could try running <ifconfig eth0 up> from a shell.

The best history is that the netcard of this laptop works with the SuSE 9.2 live DVD but not with the paid SuSE 9.2 PRO DVDs and 5 CD. For me the module include in the distribution of SuSE 9.2 is not a good one. I am busy to recreate a new kernel & his modules.

The best of the best, now it is working. The probelm was linked with my GRUB/LILO problems I have used the /dev/hdb insead of /dev/hde disk to install the boot & root system. With hdb Grub of Lilo do not work but withh hde well. The moment that I can boot with Grub/Lilo the netcard works.... Fine it works but I do not understand? bad for my "ego". Cxy.
