Linux Mint Rosa - deleted desktop "taskbar" panel, cannot restore
Hi all -
Been messing around in Mint (Cinnamon desktop) for a few days, and started configuring the panel at the bottom of the screen. Popped it in edit-mode, and added something I didn't want, so deleted it.
Well, that was the intention. The entire panel has now gone.
I'm aware from searching on here that this is impossible, as the option to delete is disabled when there is only one panel left. Well, now there are no panels left - just the desktop icons.
Anyone know how to get the panel/mint menu back?
'cos I'm stumped. Everywhere I look, there's people telling me that I can't have gotten into this mess
The new setting you created is stored somewhere in your home directory. Possible solutions:
0. Start renaming hidden directories in your home until problem goes away (I have no clue where Cinnamon keeps its conf in your home directory).
1. Create a new user for yourself.

In the past, deleting/moving/renaming ~/.config and ~/.gconf always produced a default "experience".
OP: Ask if you are unsure how.
After I'd got the settings window open, I could just click on "add panel" and the original panel came back - including all the applets and stuff I'd previously installed
To restore the taskbar panel is simple. Press Ctrl Alt T to open the Terminal. Type cinnamon-settings. Press Enter. When system settings pop up, click on Panels. When panels options come up, choose create panel. Then press the button to activate the selected panel, and there you go. Taskbar restored. It took me about 5 hours to find the 2 minute video that shows you how to do this.
