Question Linux Kernel source not configured

Hello, if anyone can help I would be very grateful. I am trying to install an Ethernet card (after finally finding one with Linux drivers), I have untarred the tar file and when I got to make install the first problem I encountered was kernel source not found so I installed this off the suse 7.3 disks, when I ran make install I got the message makefile:34: *** Linux kernel source not configured - missing version.h. Stop

Can anyone tell me what I do next???????
