Question linux and raid

Hi I have installed mandrake 8.2 on my system and it works fine.
I have an abit kr7a raid mobo I use the raid just as extra ide ports.
I have three hard drives 1 is linked to the primaty ide and is bootable with win xp and linux on two different partitions.

I have two other hard drives which are running throught the raid sockets.

I had to turn off the raid in the bios before I could install linux.
I wanted to be able to use the other hard drives to acess films music and the like from the other drives

any help greatly appreciated
