Moving from non-raid to Raid with linux

To anybody!

I need some advice...

So I've had a Slackware 10 setup for sometime (but this does not really relate to Slack in specific). I've decided I want to run a personal "production" server. Since it will have critical data on it I'd like to have a RAID 1 setup.

The goal is use my current Slack 10.2 disk.

What would be the easiest way to migrate my curently installed linux distro to a RAID 1 mirrored config? Currently its a 30GB drive (to be upgraded at some point).

I'd rather not deal with RAID drivers if possible. Is there a RAID controller card on the market that I could use with two drives that would be transparent to the underlying OS? Am I nutz for even thinking of going that route?

the key is to find a RAID controller that is supported in the kernel so you don't have to do anything special.

are you using one of the kernels that is on the CD or did you compile your own?

the last thing to keep in mind is you get what you pay for when dealing with RAID cards, this isn't something you want to save $50 on.
