Question Lilo and second partition in second disc

I have Win98 on my 1st Hardisk

The second disc is

Windows 30MB
swap 1MB
Linux the rest

I am using loadlin to dual boot but would like to use lilo which I assume would be faster; not having to load DOS.

Will lilo work with my linux boot in a far down partition of a second disc?

Thanks

Probably. The only reason that it would not is if you have an older BIOS which cannot address the entire disc. In that case you could make a small /boot partition at the beginning of the disc and put / at the end.

Thanks. I am aware that newer versions of Lillo will work further down the disc but not sure if it will all work if the MBR is on another disc.

"not sure if it will all work if the MBR is on another disc."

Yes, it will work. The MBR does not have to be on the same disc as the Linux system.

Been doing some more reading. Does it matter that I did not configure my Linux partition, hdb2 as bootable when I did the original patitioning?
