just help me out ////
i hope it does help..
Running Ubuntu 10.04 on MSI CR400:
To make the OS run you should use the nomedeset option when booting both from the Live CD and from the HD.
Almost all drivers are installed correctly, but the video driver is not. I solved the problem by downloading the graphic driver directly from the nvidia website.
The Fn keys for increasing or decreasing the luminosity doesn't work on this version of Ubuntu, unless you set the boot option acpi=off, but by using this method the computer doesn't turn off correctly.
The battery works for 2 hours and 30 minutes using Ubuntu.
ty dude...
havnt tried nomode setting thought that how would the system run without even basic graphic card setting..
cud explain me how come this can run coz the main board is hardwired the graphic chipset and thus not installing the basic thing wont it be an issue ...

2 things
1, settle down, all your going to do is annoy anyone who would have otherwise been willing to help you.
2, download Ubuntu 10.10 and try installing that instead. 10.04 had a few problems with settings that I really doubt you are going to be willing to work through. 9.10 is also about to reach End-Of-Life meaning it will no longer be supported.
Well dude wat kinda of ans is that i have download 6 destro of linux//
n all of them frezes on startup..
I know its graphic issue but dunno i to tunnel it..
And if askin question is making u annoyed.. I should stop askin one..
I just eager to work on linux nothin much..

What ones exactly? From what you have said you downloaded Ubuntu 9 something, Ubuntu 10 something, Linux Mint something, OpenSuse something. It is very hard to help you if you can't give us the information we need to help you. Ubuntu has 2 versions in 2009 and another 2 in 2010. Linux Mint is Ubuntu with pretty colours and a couple of codecs installed by default.

That could be because of the kernel version and your graphics hardware. It is because of this we need to know exactly what versions you have.

you are going to get bored with me asking you to tell us exactly what versions you have.

Ask questions just don't be rude and please stop using txt language. My native language is English, I'm not fluent in txt. I'm even willing to use Google Translate if need be but it doesn't have the option to translate txt to English

I can totally understand that feeling.

I'm not advanced by any means but I do listen and take in advice when people who know more than me give it.
Lets break this right down for you. I think alot of the problem with your PC is to do with the kernel version (2.6.32) and by advising you to download Ubuntu 10.10 I am pretty much making sure it is the kernel that is your problem. If Ubuntu 10.10 fails then the kernel is not the problem.
Now if you are willing to work with me and give me the details I need so I can help you the best I can I'm willing to work with you IF you settle down (stop being rude) and IF you stop using txt language.
ok
thanks for your remark///
my system: MSI cr400
NVIDIA GRAPHIC 8200 M
UBUNTU 10.10 DESKTOP EDITION..
I TRIED NOMODESET AND THIS IS WORKING OKAY AT THE START BUT AFTER INSTALLATION IT JUST POPUP THE CURSOR AND THE BEAUTIFUL UBUNTU SCREEN...

Well that throws that theory out!
Ok, I need you to try something for me.
1. Shutdown.
2. Reboot.
3. As the machine is rebooting hold down the shift key. This will force you into Grub if it doesn't go there naturally.
4. Now your in Grub I want you to select the "recovery mode" option.
5. Now choose FailsafeX
6. Now choose low graphics mode and let the machine start from there.
Let us know if it starts.
I'm not going to be around much longer tonight, half an hour at the most. If your quick I can help some more tonight but if you take your time I wont be able to respond till tomorrow morning my time (Australia).

You are welcome.
Just so you know 9.10 is not supported after April 2011 (next month) so I would try 11.04 (after it is released of course) off a LiveCD as soon as you can. Maybe even give Debian 6 (Squeeze) a go.
