Welcome to LQ!

When you run the Ec2-describe-instances api tool this should list your instances and included such information as the attached ebs storage and the kernel aki image.

Also; if you want to make a copy of the existing machine you have with all the customisations you could follow the AMI bundle process and turn your current running instance into an AMI that you can launch and it will have the same software and configuration changes you have made to your instance. I have included a link to the the specific bundle section in the documentation

If you want to launch a fresh new identical machine without any customisations made you can just launch from the same ami of the machine above and leave the ramdisk and kernel images at default and this will launch an identical machine.

It is recommended that you DON'T play around with kernel images until you have read the following documentation http://docs.amazonwebservices.com/AW...edkernels.html
