Question Kernel 2.6.2 Information

Hi, this may have been asked already, ( I have been browsing the boards for about 3 days looking for it, as well as using google) but I was looking for some detailed information on what the kernel offers.
By that I mean I was looking for information on what each item does.. when I do a make config and it asks me if I want this, or that.. I many times don't know what its referring to or what that certain option will add.. I have read many guides on kernel compilation, and I can do that without a problem.. but most of the questions I guess at..
Anyone know a good place/link/book etc. to point me to? Thanks,
*Also on a side note, has anyone sucessfully gotten an ATI Mobility 9600 to work under any distribution of linux and enabled 3D acceleration? If so what kernel are you using. (BTW I am running SUSE 9.0 Professional if you want more info just ask thanks again.)

My first suggestion is to do a make menuconfig (instead of make config) and use the help if you don't understand what something does. This is full proof, because they left the help out on some things. But most of the stuff at least has some explication. If you need info on a particular option just and we will do our best to tell you.

check out /usr/src/linux/Documentation . Most of what you need to know is in there. Book your afternoon off, though. That kernel can do a lot!
