kde painfully slow
i recently put gentoo on my machine and tried adding kde. i say tried because it takes 2 minutes or longer to start kde, and once in it it takes at least a minute to load any program. i found out (mostly by accident) that it is because of how my network configuration is set up, i know this because i edited /etc/conf.d/net and killed it by accident and started kde. kde worked perfectly fine when that happened (but i had no internet). please help me figure this out, someone suggested the following for another linux distro (ones that use /etc/network/interfaces), i'm hoping someone can tell me how to do in gentoo.
auto lo eth0
iface lo inet loopback
iface eth0 inet dhcp
you can see the full post by searching for the exact phrase 'auto lo eth0'....it won't let me put the link on here for some reason otherwise i would. it's the first thing that pops up when you search that.
thanks for any help
