Is Gnome 2.2 painfully slow for anyone else?

I loved 2.0, which is what I used on Mandrake 9.0. Since upgrading to 9.1, though, Gnome is painfully slow. If I want to change my font preferences, for instance, I have to wait about 5 seconds, as opposed to the 1 second it took in gnome 2.0. Gnome terminal takes about as long to load, and Nautilus is a 10-15 second ordeal. It is only this slow for Gnome aps, though, Phoenix pops open, as do most other non-gnome aps.

Is anyone else experiencing this?
