K3B upgrade help?

Hi

I'm running Knoppix 3.1 as a rescue disk because xp is messed up.. Anyways, I'm trying to back up all my important data to cd-r, after about 5 coasters and one success, I went to k3b website, where they have an upgrade patch because they said something about my version crapping up burns and failing. Well, I downloaded 11.9 and need to know how to install it.. I read the FAQ, INFO, and INSTALL instructions included, but I'm too much a linux noob to understand it.. Is there some place that shows step by step instructions? Or can someone help me? I'm already frustrated with it, and I need this pc up and running soon..

If your running Knoppix 3.1... I'd assume you mean you stuck in a live cd to boot from?
And if that's the case... how do you plan on installig updates to software which is on a non-writeable cd?

Or did you install knoppix on the hard drive...

oh man... crap..
Yes, I'm on live cd, So there isn't a way to upgrade it? I thought it saved things to the ram.. or yeah..

I guess the best way to go about rescuing the data is to put a second hard drive and install knoppix, upgrade k3b and then burn everything?
It there an easier way?

Well, actually. Try setting K3B to burn at 1x with TAO mode and turn off Burnfree... I had the same crap out problem in suse and those settings seemed to always work. P.S... 1x for some unknown reason always burned at 10x anyway.. lol

Well, at least if you got them at the right price you only wasted about 5 cents
