Hello lonewolf002,

Welcome!

VMware 6.5 'what'? VMware workstation is at version 14. If you working with Workstation 6.5, forget it. You have to upgrade. But with the current VMware player it should work. And, have you tried to install RHEL? It should just work without hitches. If you want to be an admin, installing the operating system would be a good place to start.

If you install REHL 7 it may make your current OS un-usable or even permanently damage your computer.

You need to say what your Host and Guest are.

VMWare apparently attempts to share PHYSICAL RESOURCES. (this would be dangerous using Win10 or Apple High Sierra, and vmware doesn't evne support it).

So your saying you are running linux and want to run another (or perhaps older) linux? (chroot(1) can do this to some extent and is a 2k binary already in your linux, but not to every extent)?

(when you answer that your question can be answered better)

He wants to install it to a virtual machine! Could you please explain how that could cause what you say?

Why? He already said the guest is RHEL!

Take some time to think through what you're writing.

I don't know how anyone could answer your post.

I'm sure you're a knowledgeable, experienced Linux user, the type that is valued on LinuxQuestions.org. So, just take a little time to read through what you're posting before you actually post it.

Some of your other posts are better! Keep up the good work!
