hi, i jus installed Redhat fedora core 4, and when i try to use the virtual console, by pressing ctrl+alt+F1, the console comes up but with a blue border around the outside. The border is the width of a character, and i could live with that, but the text on the far left is cut in two. I can only see half of the charachter that is supposed to be against the edge of the screen, but the *other* half appears on the right side of the screen. I dont quite know what to do to fix this... if anybody could help me that wuold be appreciated.
i dunno if this will help at all, but i was running fedora core 2, and the tty terminals worked fine... then i reinstalled ova that, and put fedora core 4 on, which is now not perfect.
by distro... where do i find that?
sorry, im a n00b...
graphics adaptar is also a problem. I know its old, 97 i think, but i dont know how to find it out with linux, and i cant remember from when i was running windows.
i could move harddrives around between pc's, but there must be an easier way to find it out?
Ok. First, tput reset didnt do anything, the border was still there.
Second, my distro is 2.6.11-1.1369_FC4, if thats what you wanted.
third, i dont have a graphics card, only an onboard chip, which is an intel 82810e Graphics controller.
just so you know,
by distro we mean distribution, in your case it's fedora core 4
2.6.11-1.1369_FC4 is your kernel version.
when you post a message for help, it's best to give as much info on your system as you can. It helps to get to the solution faster.
