Unhappy Internet not working in Virtual Box

Hi,

I installed Windows Professional in Virtual Box to use a program that wasn't compatible with Wine. The first day, the internet was working fine, and I didn't think to check the internet connection. The following morning, I logged on and went to look up something on Mozilla Firefox, and it told me I was in offline mode. I fixed that, but after doing so, it told me that I was unable to browse the web etc. I went to Network Connections and it said I wasn't connected anywhere. I have tried using the Windows "internet wizard" to connect. I chose the first option, "Connect to the Internet: Connect to the Internet so you can browse the Web and read email." After clicking next etc., an error said, "The New Connection Wizard was unable to open the following location on your machine: C:/Program Files/Online Services

I'm really not a tech genius and am horrible at configuring internet and modems..

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Emily

How is your virtual machine connected to the Network? NAT or connection-sharing?

Hello Emily

I don't understand "the internet was working fine, and I didn't think to check the internet connection". How do you know it was working fine if you did not check it?

With the virtual machine not running, check its network settings in the VirtualBox configuration window. Sometimes they change spontaneously -- I swear they do!

If you don't see anything amiss then post the output of
Code:
VBoxManage showvminfo <name> | grep NIC
where name is the name of your virtual machine; this is case-sensitive.

Please also post the output, from the Windows system, of
Code:
IPCONFIG /ALL
PING 75.126.162.205

Best

EDIT:

Thank you so much, both of you. I figured out how to change the Network connection in the virtual box settings.

I can't say thank you enough times!!!!!!

Gratefully yours,

EmilyRose
