Hi. I am a new member... new 2 linux... Could u provide me some details on where to get and how to install gcc compiler. I am using Mandriva Power Pack 2010. I am getting downloads as in *.rpm format or *.tar.bz2 .. How to install using that.... Any idea please...
Distribution: FreeBSD(preferred), Fedora 15, WebOS, Mac OS, NetBSD, Ubuntu (if I have no other choice)

The documentation from the Mandriva wiki indicates that you select Star > Application Menu > Install & Remove Software

K sir ... I have tried that way too sir.... But its not showing anything... I also tried making a double-click on the corresponding rpm package/tar file... But, nothing fruitful...
Insert the CD/DVD of Mandriva you have got. The package should already be present thereon. It will be much easier and better if you copy and paste all the packages into a particular directory (under /var/ftp/pub/) and then create a YUM Repository and then install any package whether it is GCC or any other. It will download any dependencies and will install them automatically. RPM cannot resolve dependencies on its own.
