Installing RPM packages

Hello. Im new to linux, and I cant seem to open my edonkey.rpm. Im using Fedora core 2 I reied running it off terminal, "./edonkey.rpm". It reads the message

cannot execute binary file

What can I do?

If it's an rpm then do 'rpm -ivh edonkey.rpm' from a terminal.

An RPM is a package, much like a ZIP file. You need to install the RPM file to be able to use the software. As root, try...

rpm -ivh edonkey.rpm

That will either install the package, or tell you what other packages you need before you can install it. Those other packages are called dependencies. If a package depends on others that aren't installed, it won't install.
