Installing Packages

I just installed Ubuntu on my second hard drive and it does not recognize my wireless adapter USB stick. I need to install certain packages in order to install the drivers (I have the drivers in a zip file on the ubuntu hard drive). How can I install those packages if I do not have an internet connection to update them from command line?

try the graphical app "gdebi".
if that is not available, use "dpkg" in a terminal (read "man dpkg" first).

I think it would be best to answer your questions in reverse:

Your best bet would be a network cable, if possible. Otherwise, using a different computer to download and a usb key.

https://packages.ubuntu.com would be the place to go, obviously selecting the version of Ubuntu that you have.

The package that would allow you to install Windows drivers for Linux would be ndiswrapper. It is not foolproof, though. If you manage to get it running through ndiswrapper, I would highly recommend that the first thing that you do is find a Linux only solution, if possible.
