Installing Open Office

I am running RedHat 5.6 on a wintel586 machine. I need directions for installing the latest version of Open Office for Linux from a cdrom. I was able to get my sound card , printer, and modem to work at least for the root user but I can figure out how to get even some of the included applications to work.

not even sure libraries from 5.6 are compatible with
