web site setup


okay i'm going to start from square one

can set up redhat 7.3 in graphical mode and use it as a web server or should i stick to text mode?

i'm lost how does installing linux using a graphical program relate in the slightest to it's ability to serve webpages??

It depends on the box's use. If you are going to use it as a webserver and thats all, then you dont need a GUI (KDE,Gnome) installed on it. Its just as easy to install and configure apache (or whatever webserver you want to install) without a GUI.

Not in any kind but a GUI installation just adds a lot of not required shit to the box

There's no point in wasting space installing unneeded apps or using resources to start them or time turning them off. If it's not going to be an end user system, it's best to trim out as much as possible.
