Installing DisplayLink Driver I get a "no login name" error

I have just installed mint 20 xfce and tried to install the driver for my 3rd screen. I used to work on cinnamon and it always worked flawlessly.

Now when trying to install in xfce I get this error:

Quote:

DisplayLink Linux Software 5.3.1.34 install script called:
Distribution discovered: Linux Mint 20
logname: no login name

So how did you install it on your previous install, Mint Cinnamon? The same way?
Your previous install was not Mint 20, yes?

Obviously displaylink is not in the repos because you're attempting to compile it. How? where are you getting the source from?
Do you use the command line? If yes, please show us full commands & full output.

You seem to have 2 separate errors there, the first one in the shell script (you could look at/around line 634 to figure out what's going on there) - it seems to not be fatal though.
The 2nd is fatal - make cannot compile because it doesn't recognize stdint.h, although /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-linux-gnu/9/include/stdint.h seems to exist on your system.
Compiler mismatch (on my system gcc is at 10, yours is at 9)? Architecture mismatch?
Please check if any file /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-linux-gnu/*/include/stdint.h exists, and what takes the place of the '*'.
