Installing a program as sudo on Ubuntu system

When attempting to install a program as sudo, I get an error message: ...must be sudo to install. I am new to Ubuntu but I've installed several other programs on this same system using sudo with success. I've also installed this same program on another Ubuntu system with no problems. Please advise.

Which program you're installing? Also check if you've enough priviledges to install that program as sudo or not, check it as:
Code:
~$ sudo -l

ran sudo -l

user may run the following commands
(ALL : ALL) ALL

This is a program that was created by someone specifically for a certain hardware. I installed the program on another Ubuntu system and had no problems.

Hello and welcome to LQ.
Please provide the exact command you used and the exact error-message you get. Please use code-tags for that (if you don't know how have a look at the link in my signature).
