IMB Thinkpad T23 w/2631 docking station usb ports not working
IMB Thinkpad T23 w/2631 docking station usb ports not working
Does anyone have any ideas why the usb ports on the docking station
would not be functional? I am running Redhat 8.0 new install from cd's.
The usb port on the laptop works when it is not on the docking station but when I put the laptop in the docking station the usb ports on the docking station don't work..
Frustrated..
Thanks,
Michelle

Don't you just love
International Musiness Bachines? :)
Well, first question: does it work with
the other OS whose name I won't utter
in these holy halls?
Second question: I don't know what
your docking station looks like, or
how the notebook slides into it, but is
the original USB port accessible when
docked, and does it work?
Third question: tried a lsusb yet? And a
lsmod, for that matter. What's the output?
Cheers,
Tink

Tink,
Ok I have not attempted the other no name os..
You can't access the usb port on the laptop when it is in the docking station
I am doing a clean install of redhat 8.0 from cd's again as I blew it up trying something else.
I am not sure what lsusb does but I'll try it when I get the machine back up and post the ouput from that and the lsmod.
Thanks,
Michelle

Hi Michelle,
can you also check the BIOS version
of your thinkpad? I've been through the
BIOS update readme's of your box, and
it appears that there were SEVERAL USB
related fixes, even though none mention
Linux ;)

Hi Tink,
Well looks like the bios is at V 1.34.2 so I'll have to look at that but below is the outupt from the lsusb and lsmod with the laptop in the docking station and with the laptop out of the docking station.

Weird ...
I diffed the output, and I would think
it's all good ... :/
Well, except forthe cash-drawer which
I find somewhat unusual ... sorry that the
BIOS update didn't change anything.
All I can suggest now is to go to
http://www7.pc.ibm.com/~Thinkpad
Sign up, and nag IBM'ers ... :}
Cheers,
