Hi
I'm having a bit of trouble with a laptop.
My processor is an Intel p3 mobile 1,2 ghz. when I check the /proc/cpuinfo file, it recognizes this, but it says that it it's running at about 800 MHz.
It generally feels very sluggish and slow to respond, so I'm pretty sure it's accurate.
I've set all relevant options in the bios to "max performance", but it still boots at 800MHz.
my questions are:
When is the cpuinfo file updated? at boot? or is it written once, during install?
and, how do I get my laptop to run at 1.2ghz? it's allways plugged in, so power consumption is not a problem...
Thanks, Macavity
P.S, I'm a bit of a newbie with linux, but I'm not afraid to get my fingers dirty
