im gonna give it a try.

hello

i need to setup a secure webbased email server on linux. i could have some one do it for me, but i think in the long term the more i know the better off i will be.

i have two spare computers at home both with win 98 that i dont need. they are a hp 6353 pavilion 466 with 128 mg cdrom with floppy and 3dfx video card.

the other is a tiger direct computer that i have played around with for eons. an athlon 266 with 128 mg and the usual stuff on it.

i dont need windows, someone tell me how to delete windows, how to install linux( and which linux system will be best for me
im not going have a ton of emails like maybe 50 to a hundred.

some one recommended.

PHProjekt running on a Linux server on top of Apache
(with SSL) and MySQL. for me.
what books should i read and

really i am in your hands. it can only get better.

yo.

Please remember that this will be harder than installing a program on Windows as you are asking how to install, configure, and use a completely new operating system.
Choosing one of the major distributions (Red Hat, Suse, Mandrake) you should be able to delete your Windows partiton by choosing to partition your drive manually during install. Or, if you're using Windows 98 with FAT, make a boot disk, copy fdisk to it and delete the Windows partition before starting your Linux install. You are realizing that deleting the Windows partition will mean losing all data you have not backed up to another media.
You are getting your cart way in front of your horse until you complete your install.
