iceweasel and home page generation

ok, I've tried to figure this out on my own; tried finding a thread discussing a solution for someone else having the same problem....but no luck. So here I am asking for advice.
I'm running iceweasel via KDE on a Debian Etch distribution. When I start-up iceweasel it automatically generates two windows to my home page. Every time I click on the home page icon instead of it taking me back to my home page, it generates a new window which opens in my home page. Why doesn't it just go back to my home page, why is it opening a new window? Firefox never did this.

It must be set to automatically open a new tab when accessing home or something. I would probably be able to find the cure, but I'm feeling kind of lazy right now. So..........., you can probably find the cure by going through settings, type: about:config in the url field in Iceweasel and hit enter, you will be taken to a page where you can customize many things in Icedove and Iceweasel, most of the entries here are linked to settings done via the menus, but not all of them. To change a value from false to true, or true to false, right click on the line and select "toggle". To change a numbered value from 0 to 1 or 1 to 0 let's say, right click on the line and select "modify".
