I lost 99% of the functionality in LibreOffice

I was experimenting with Google Docs' speech to text feature. I saved the document as an .odt file and then wanted to transfer it to another .odt file. But when I opened the file on another computer my functionality was all screwed up. For starters the tool bar was missing. Then somehow it came back but when I would hover over Edit or Tools or anything on the toolbar I just got a gray rectangle dropdown instead of the features. I can type (see screenshot--that's what happened when I went to close out of the file) but that's about it.

Any ideas? The way I'm looking at it I just need to redownload LO and stay away from that .odt file I made on Google Docs.

And do you think if I open my main file (not the one I made on Google Docs) on another computer with LibreOffice on it that it will cause that to lose functionality as well?

Thanks.

Try changing the permissions on the .odt file.

Thanks Awesome. LO seems to be functional today. (I think it just needed to reboot.) One thing I left out yesterday in my haste is that I tried to switch fonts for the whole document. So select all> copy etc. It did not like that.

I don't think the file was the problem, as other (normal files made in LO) .odt files did not work or the functionality of LO was terribly impaired with them, as well.

It's weird because when I first made a file with the voice to text in Google Docs I made a .docx file and I checked it in an html editor and it was virtually free from cruft. I was like, great!

I'm a little afraid of the file still but I've got a secondary computer I can experiment on. This computer I'm using now is my main work computer and I didn't want to lose LO on it.

Appreciate you responding.
