Lost keyword functionality in Firefox

In firefox 0.8 I could type a word in the address bar and it would take me to the most popular site on google for that term. But with 1.0 this only works if i type more than one keyword. Otherwise i get a error looking like this:

Bad Gateway
The following error occurred:

[code=DNS_HOST_NOT_FOUND] The host name was not found during the DNS lookup. Contact your system administrator if the problem is not found by retrying the URL.
Please contact the administrator.

Have you attempted to reinstall?

Have you upgraded recently? If so did you delete the config files?

I have upgraded recently but until recently it was installed by rpm initially now it was using their binaries. Is there anyway to restore the config files?
