Hello and Welcome to LQ!

We'll need some more sysinfo using inxi, so open a terminal and issue
Code:
inxi -c0 -Fszr | pastebin
and paste the resulting url link here in your reply.

"Browser" is Firefox, by default. Is that what we're yakking about here?
Version?

Thanks!

Hi, Mr Franklin, and welcome to LQ.

How much RAM have you got in there?

Also, which video card do you have?

There's a possibility that your system may be a bit underpowered to run Cinnamon.

Edit: Oops, Habitual got in there before me...

Youtube has got much more demanding recently, and HTML5 is worse than Flash in this respect. You've got two things running that use a lot of graphics processing: Firefox and Cinnamon. Just try installing Mate and switching to it at log-in and see if that helps.

most likely your machine hasn't enough oomph, or graphical hardware acceleration is unavailable, or both.
for the gpu, please post the output of
Code:
lspci -k | grep -A5 VGA
(although it's possible that the inxi ouput provides the same info).

other than that, don't use youtube directly but use mpv & youtube-dl. hey, there's even a firefox addon!

edit:
oops, cinnamon on an old celeron... no, no. lightweight you must go. MATE is good.
