Question how2 do the "alt+###" thing in fedora 5 & firefox?

Hello. First post here. I recently sent my winblows os to it's new home in the bitbucket. I am currently running fed core 5 w/ gnome gui and firefox browser.
I have always used a lot of the "extended ascii" chars in my passwords. In windows i just turned on numlock, and held down alt while entering the digits. I have been unable to figure out how to do this in linux so far. Thanks in advance!

Hi and welcome to LQ

See here http://img474.imageshack.us/img474/3002/sc3va0.png

After unsetting Alt here, see if it works.

I tried changing my window "management" key settings, but it had no effect. For the time being I am content to use the character generator.
