how to use ubuntu rescue remix


hello every one this is the first time i have posted anything online,i have bn useing ubuntu for a cople of years now but never got past the gui,i have no clue about a terminal or codes,the most i have done is"sudo halt",anyway i would like to use the ubuntu rescue remix cd i have made and would love to lern more about controling a pc through a terminal is this the right place to start?the thing i need to lern right now is how to use the rescue remix cd as the other day i was writing to my hard drive and got a power cut and when power came bk on the pc would not boot which is not a problem and 1 of the thing i like so much about linux just go make a bootable cd and reinstall but my problem was i had things on the hard drive i want to keep,but i cannot get the hard drive to mount to recover my data,i had a look online and found ubuntu rescue remix but dont have a clue how to use it and i need to get my data back,where do i start?

Sorry this is not meant to be rude but what you wrote is barely understandable. Too many words no puctuation. There are no sentences. There are only a couple of commas and two question marks.

i wanted help with linux not gramour,i am sorry if i am not very good at it.

ricky - get a "test PC" - ie:- a setup, that is *not* 'normal use' machine,
it can be a desktop or a laptop, But- it Must be something that you can "play with".
without having to worry about crashing it / killing it / stuffing it completely . . . .

the use that remix cd - or any other 'live cd' and "just play around with it"
- that's the Best Way to Learn

- eventually - install that O/S to the "test hdd" - & "just keep playing with it".

- you can do this repeatabily - with anything that you come across.

I had the pleasure of having Ubuntu for 2 years and enjoyed it. Anyway this forum and the Ubuntu forum are good places you can go to for help.
