Could you tell us what you actually did please? masinick's post has nothing to do with Wine and you don't run programs with Wine like that. As such, I'm a bit confused as to what you've done. With Wine, you have to run, e.g. "wine stuff", where "stuff" is the program you want to run.

Never mind I found it in Wine but it won't open the program. I guess maybe it just won't work in linux which is lame! I don't see why it won't, but at the same time that's what I see! Any ideas? Thanks!

Unhappy Ummmmm!

I installed WINE (yum install wine plus all the extras). Then, I changed directory to Desktop (cd Desktop) where my InstallFullTilt.exe file is. Then, switched to the root user (su and my password). Then I did (./InstallFullTilt.exe). I just let it install in C:\ProgramFiles\FullTilt or whatever and I can see it in Wine, but I can't open the program now! That's what I did so far! Any pointers?

You should *not* have run the installer as root

As normal user:
Code:
wine InstallFullTilt.exe
This should then install in:
Code:
~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files
Evo2.

C:/Program Files/Name Of Thing/NameOf Thing.exe

Just a helpful Tip, Pokerstars offers more friendly support for Linux users.

Instead of resurrecting 6 year old threads, you should create a new thread that is relative to your problem. Be sure to include a detailed description. I suggest that you look at 'How to Ask Questions the Smart Way'.

Unable to execute a Ms Windows Google*.exe file in 10.04 (lucid)

Unable to execute a Ms Windows Google*.exe file...
Lucid complains that the executable bit not set...
I set executable bit in terminal...
On running in terminal, terminal states:
"... .wine is not owned by you..."

On opening with wine program loader, the system ignores the open request...

How do I install a COMPLETE wine pkg?
Thx, JosephBus@gmail.com

First, I strongly recommend removing the e-mail address from your post. You are inviting a spam attack. Also, we want people to keep the technical discussions on the forum.

How did you install and setup WINE? Does it work OK for other things?

With WINE, I have taken the "lazy" road: I use CrossOver, which is a commercial (paid) version, and has a nice GUI.

Totaly Lost

As I see that this thread has gone on for six + I do not feel to bad.
The last time i did any thing at all at a command line level was about thirty or so years ago on my Heathkit with a tape drive.
So thank you all who have contributed your knowledge here and I will see if if it gets my executable going for me.

You might want to create a new thread with the specifics of your problem, if you're still stuck.

copy the .bin file to your user/home directory to enable knowledge of the exact path of the .bin file, i.e its sitting in your user/home directory.open the terminal again, in the terminal you have to be in the same directory as the .bin file to run this commands. IIRC ubuntu opens the terminal to the "/" directory, that's the uppermost directory or "root directory". You use the "cd" command in the terminal to navigate from one directory to another. You use the "ls" command to list the contents of the current directory you are in. You use the "pwd" command to print out the name of the current directory you are in. Using the above commands run:

pwd

that will print out the directory that you are currently in, which will probably be /. Next, move to your home directory with the cd command. There are two ways to do that either:

cd ~

or $ cd /home/<insert your user name>

Confirm that you are in your user's home directory with the pwd command:

$ pwd

which should print out:

/home/<username>

Confirm that your bin file is present in this directory with the ls command:

$ ls

You should see the name of your bin file printed out along with all the other files your home directory.

Now that you are in the same directory as your bin file, you should be able to run the chmod command:

$ chmod a+x <insert bin file name>

and then:

$ ./<insert bin file name>

i hope this helps
