Their is a project called easylife @ http://easylifeproject.org/

It will install, configure and add extra repositories to yum's source list. The site says easylife is for fedora and since scientific is also based on fedora, it can be use as well.

Easylife does not replace the yum package manager. Easylife just adds extra repositories from rpmfusion, livna and others to yum's source list.

The first time you use easylife it will download the plugins/packages you need.

When you want to install software in the future -- just use yum as usual.

Hi,

You can download the tar.gz version of the flash plugin from Adobe, extract it somewhere on your disk and copy the resulting libflashplayer.so in the firefox plugins directory.

Regards

As with any linux distro try using the package manager first. If a package is not available, then the last option is to install from the package/vendor's website as bathory mentioned.

To check if the install was successful open firefox and type in the url field

Code:
about:plugins
This will list all plugins installed.

Good Luck
