how to install xvid... plzz help

I have downloaded xvidcore package and extract it but really confued how to install it. I have read the direction but couldn't make it...
Plzzz help me I want to change the formats of my dvd movies to divx and to write it on a dvd....
I am using fedora core5

yum -y install xine xine-lib xine-skins

that'll do it.
