Question How to install ADOBE flash player in Open Suse 10.3 so I can watch you.tube?

Hi,

I've tried these to install flash player but it does work. My system has OpenSUSE 10.3 (64 bit).

I've downloaded the flashplayer_10_linux and unzip it:
jo:~>tar -zxvf install_flash_player_10_linux.tar.gz

jo:~> cd install_flash_player_10_linux
bash: cd: install_flash_player_10_linux: No such file or directory

jo:~> mkdir install_flash_player_10_linux

jo:~> cd install_flash_player_10_linux

jo:~/install_flash_player_10_linux> /install_flash_player_10_linux> ./flashplayer-installer
bash: /install_flash_player_10_linux: No such file or directory

And also tried these:

suse:~# cp /home/josephineboac/libflashplayer.so /usr/lib64/browser-plugins
suse:~# chmod 755 /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/libflashplayer.so
suse:~ # remove /usr/lib64/firefox/components/X.dat
-bash: remove: command not found

Would you kindly help with step-by-step procedure?

Thanks,
Jo

flash player

Hey Jo,

You should have the libflashplayer.so file form the tar ball. Move the file into home/user/.mozilla/plugins (If the directory doesn't exist create it) and that should get you going.
hope this helps

Hi Matt,

I've created the directory: mkdir /home/user/.mozilla/plugins.
What would I do next?

Would you kindly write here the step-by-step code? Thanks much!

Jo

Has Adobe released the 64-bit Flash player? I got the beta one from labs.adobe.com, which works quite well.

Repositories...

Have you tried to install the flash-player from the openSUSE 10.3 repositories using YaST? You would thereby avoid the dependency problems of installing the package yourself.

If you want to install the latest version, you can use the Search function in YaST to find "flash-plugin", then look to the bottom of the window and open the dependencies box to see what you may need to get the latest downloaded version to install and play.
