How to find memory utilization of particular process in linux in GB

Hi
Im running linux server which shows lots more memory consumed and running on swap .I want to find out top memory consumed by particular process alone

i dont want to clear cache are increase swap memory .I just want to find out root cause where my memory is taking .

Please provide the steps what are the thing i have to loook to find the hidden memory holding process

look at these 3 fields %MEM VSZ RSS

How much total memory your system has? It actually depends on the total memory in use & that's why things go with percentage of memory consumption, instead of amount of memory in use. You should try top command to check memory utilization by each process, sorted in order of most memory consuming processes on the top of the list. In top cmd output, percentage of cpu memory in use is amount of total memeory in use i.e. physical + swap. By default top cmd gives amount of memory used in KBs.
