how to easily update or reinstall kde in mandrake?

so for no good reason my kde install has started mucking up in the last week or so..

ie: konqueror menus, all options except those in file are grey'd out, clicking on location button no longer brings up menus etc..

figured id take this opportunity to go from kde 3.1.0 to 3.1.4 ..

but how... I dl'ed Konstruct and have wasted hours 'make'ing for hours, tracking down missing files that cause it to abort (libpcre at first, now flex, which for some reason wont install..)

there has to be a better way..

suggestions?

thanks,

cakes..

As far as I can see, the only place that there is a ready made rpm for kde 3.1.4 packaged for mandrake is from texstar.

Surf to the "plf" page and follow the link for "easy urpmi" then just follow the instructions - but once you've updated your urpmi sources, when you look at available packages, don't forget to check out the version numbers - the 3.1.4 one has a "tex" reference and not "mdk".

regards

John

Cool

Save the files you want to keep and re-insta;; from scratch. It only takes about 45 minutes to "fix " everything at once. Make sure BIOS is set boot from Cd. Reboot and let her rip.
