How to create a device file in linux?


Hi

I want to know how to create a device file in linux. Please provide me the detailed information. Thanks in advance

MAKEDEV (in upper case) is what you're looking for.

MAKEDEV is good, it will create groups of devices. For example it will create all of the loop devices /dev/loopN.

For a particular decide that you know the info about, mknod is what you need.
