How to check system specifications?

Dear all,

I wish to enquire how to check system specification information? Is there a command to do so?

I know command "top" shows the ram size, but what about the processior speed and hard disk etc?
Is there a command that feeds these info back?

Thanks for taking time reading my mail!

The "files" in the /proc directory give lots of system information. For the processor speed, see /proc/cpuinfo
