Getting hardware specifications

Hello everyone,

I hope this is the right forum, well, I installed Slackware 10 on an Acer Aspire 1501 LMi, and I want to recompile a 2.6.7 kernel, so how do I get all the hardware specs in my laptop to know what options I have to use in the kernel conf? I mean my notebook will stay pretty much the same without any hardware altering, so wouldn'nt it be good to compile a kernel with just the options it really needs?
lspci, anything else?
Something like that?

thanks in advance
Bill

Of course Yes
Yes, there's lspci and you can have a look in /proc directory... For example /proc/cpuinfo for more info about your CPU or /proc/driver/nvidia... if you own a Nvidia video card...
