How editor can be changed in redhat linux


How default editor can be changed in redhat linux to different editor.

What do you mean the default editor? Text editor? Graphic editor? You need to explain more details........

yes I mean by text editor (vi editor)

Simplest way. If you are using bash, you can put that into your .bashrc file. Also note that the location to vim might be different in your system, since you didn't tell us what distro you are using or anything. If in doubt, run the following:

you do know that "nano" is also installed ( by default) for the terminal

also VI is not just a "text editor"
it is a full fledged word processor

and if you have gnome installed there is gedit the DEFAULT gui text editor

or there is emacs also a full fledged word processor and front end for gcc too ( a Swiss army knife)
