Why are you taking a usb and trying to convert it to an iso? Just make it a raw file and use it or make it a raw file and covert it to a VM virtual hard drive format. Qemu-image can usually convert. Then you'd usually try to attach it to a newly created vm client that had no virtual hard drive attached.

Because I want to make a bootable DVD. My USB is bootable but when I make an iso of it the dvd made from it is not bootable.

Making a bootable iso file

While genisoimage as posted in the link creates an ISO file that can be burned to disc it will not be bootable. There are several ways to make a disc bootable. One way is via isolinux.

https://www.syslinux.org/wiki/index.php?title=ISOLINUX

This seems good followed it until it wants more, but I am now stuck as I =it says:

Copy "[bios/]core/isolinux.bin" from the Syslinux archive
For version 5.00 or newer, also copy "[bios/]com32/elflink/ldlinux/ldlinux.c32" from the Syslinux archive

I just cannot find the Syslinux archive

Help will appreciated working two weeks so far to crack copying a bootable iso.
I have solved this it does not work on a 64 bit system. I think because isohybrid is only 32 bit.

Now I get it to run and it is supposed to make a file boot.cat but I cannot find it.

Anyone know where it is?

Did a search of the whole hard drive but it does not find it.

Any ideas. Please.

Can't understand why this has been marked as solved.

I have almost got it working with https://www.syslinux.org/wiki/index.php?title=ISOLINUX

but found it does not work on 64 bit machines and only works on 32 bit machines.

I followed everything and appeared to work but in the end it did not produce boot.cat as it said it should.

Still working on it.

Any answers to why it will not make boot.cat please?

If you used the -c option it will be there, but I think it will be hidden, if I remember, it's just something that syslinux uses for its own purposes.

No solved it I had to put an image file in Images.

Alas, I am still stuck as it says it only will work with 4GB image files.

Anyone done this and knows how it can be done?
