How do i run other DVD regions?

When i visited the states i bought quite a few DVD's.
When i got back home i could not get them running on my computer,

My question is, what do i have to do to run both region 1 and region 2 dvd's on my region 2 DVD burner?

I've been searching the forum, but i cant quite seem to get any smarter on this subject BTW im running Ubuntu Breezy Badger.

Thanks for any answer in advance

Automatix comes with a warning:

"Please NOTE that downloading and installing w32codecs, libdvdcss2 and other non-free codecs without paying a fee to the concerned authorities constitutes a CRIME in the United States of America. Hence if you are viewing this message from anywhere in the United States of America, please do not install option AUD-DVD codecs. If you are not from the United States of America, and take full responsibility for the legal consequences of downloading and installing the aforementioned codecs, then you can go ahead and install the same..."

To view a DVD you need to have installed libdvdcss2

You need the libdvdcss plugin which does region decryption. I believe it is available for Ubuntu through package management. You will also need a compatible media player (MPlayer, Kaffeine, Xine, etc, etc, etc).

Smile Why not use VLC ?

If you want to use DVDs from different version, VLC Media Player is the best choice. It bypasses the region code information without even letting the drive know. VLC requires no extra drivers and plays DVD,VCD,SVCD,DIVX,MP4,MPEG,MOV and what ever you can think of.
