How do I install Gnome in suse

I want to switch my Suse 9 pro desktop to Gnome. I installed the files using yast but I can't get rid of the kde desktop. How is this done? Do I have to uninstall it? Gnome is not among the choices when I log in. Help please. Thanks, daryl

i'm not sure about suse9 but i use suse 8.2, and in the control center, choose system administration then log in manager, click the administrator mode button and log in with your root password, and there is a window there to add gnome to the list of options...

I thought I had a similar problem, didn't like KDE, did like GNOME.
Eventually I used YAST and deleted nearly everything that was KDE and made sure that all the GNOME parts were installed [though I found that I didn't like Ximian/evolution either and deleted that so I could use the browser I wanted] [I also couldn't get the internet connection with the gnome app so kept the qinternet of KDE].
Anyway that seemed to do the trick after resolving dependencies I had and found and could use GNOME.
Hope this helps.
