How do I get this network running?

I'm getting so frustrated with this, so sorry to bother you guys but I really need some help.

My set up is ADSL Modem/Router > Switch > One windows computer and one Linux computer running Mandrake 10.0

Routers IP is 192.168.1.254

Using a standard onboard NIC which I've had running on linux before, which it SEEMS like Linux is detecting fine.

No matter what I put in, whether I specify IP, or try and use DHCP or anything I just can't get this connected to my network and router.

Any help of what settings I should put it would be GREATLY appreciated, if you do need any more information please just ask and I'll do any commands and post the outputs you need, thanks heaps.

ADSL?? so I suppose you have all the modules loaded..
please let me know the modules that are currently loaded..

you could try to run "adsl-setup" and follow the very well commented instructions
of the script..

what is the output of "ifconfig"?
is your ppp0 interface up?
(I assume that ppp0 is your modem/router, it could be ppp1 or whatever..)

Sorry one thing I should have said before, I've got the ADSL set up already and works fine in windows and my other windows box, but I'm trying to tie into that network so should I have to alter any ppp0 stuff and will it affect my other computers? Just wondering, and one minute I will enter my ifconfig output.
