Help me get my network running please

Ok. I'm more or less a newbie to linux although I have used Mandrake in the past, I've decided to give Slackware a go. I installed it yesterday and all is well except I can't get networking running right.. I'm connected through a router to a cable modem, so I know i need to use DHCP. I'm doing a dual boot with winxp and the network works fine here in windows.

I've tried running netconfig but it does not prompt me to probe for a network card like the guide i was reading (the bitbender one) said it would, why is this? Is there a way to enable it? I would like to probe for my card first before i manually select a module myself because i'm not sure how it works exactly =)

When i do lspci it tells me my ethernet card is Marvell Yukon Gigabit Ethernet 10/100/1000 BaseT Adapter .. which module does this need?

I'm not 100% sure on how this works but i think i need to get my ethernet card recognized as eth0, right? I'm pretty sure DCHP is enabled because, excuse me if this makes no sense cause i'm going by half memory and scribbled notes, i looked in /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf and the line that says something like "usedhcp = 'yes'" was there. and when i do ifconfig there is a line for lo but not for eth0. So... i think to get on the network all i need to do is get eth0 running, right? sorry for rambling but could someone help me out here?

oh yea also this is minor but when i go into KDE my mousewheel doesn't work and i dont know how to fix it. My mouse is some generic optical mouse made by BTC. on the mouse config part of the install i just chose ps2.

thanks

The module is called : sk98lin so do a lsmod fisrt, if you don't
see sk98lin in the list, modprobe sk98lin and add a
modprobe sk98 line in /etc/rc.d/rc.modules.

After that, try a netconfig

For your mouse change ps/2 to IMps/2 in /etc/X11/xorg.conf
also, add the line
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
in the device section for your mouse.
