Help with network card please.

Hello, I'm new to linux, I just installed Fedora Core 6, on my Toshiba Satellite A215-4747 that i bought from Best Buy. I have Core 6 installed, but it won't recognize my ethernet card or my wireless card. At this point I know absolutely nothing about the linux os. But i found the network settings and there isn't anything listed and when i attempted to add network hardware i got the error that it couldn't initilize because it wasn't there. I have the Atheros Wireless card and a Realtek 8169 ethernet card. If anyone knows how to fix this or at least has a good suggestion, i would greatly appreciate this. Thanks in advance.

I use an Atheros card on my laptop and it's well supported, however you do need to have the Madwifi drivers installed. This thread on another forum may give you some further assistance. You should be able to install Madwifi via yum if it is not already installed. The Realtek 8169 also seems like a well supported chipset so it should be detected -- what does "ifconfig -a" (no quotes) run as root from the command line show?

Also, Fedora 6 is no longer the latest version -- you may wish to upgrade to 7. In general, the later the release the better the hardware detection/compatibility.
