Help installing phpmyadmin


I want to install phpmyadmin but i couldn't, I tried many ways but no reasult
I need HELP

apt-get purge mysql-server
apt-get purge mysql-common
rm -rf /var/log/mysql
rm -rf /var/log/mysql.*
rm -rf /var/lib/mysql
rm -rf /etc/mysql
# and then:
apt-get install mysql-server --fix-missing --fix-broken

ERROR 2002 (HY000) can't connect to local MySQL server triugh socket '/var/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2)

I have to ask: You installed MySQL, but did you tell it to run? It won't run automatically just because you've installed it.

You don't mention what distro/version you are using or what init system you have in place, but a web search for "start mysql [your distro name]" might help. In some distros, it might run automatically after a reboot; in others you may have to specifically enable/execute it.

Sorry for the late answer, also i'm using ubuntu 14.04 server edition, and the issue is resolved i renamed the older files and reconfigure the new one thanx in advance for ur quick answers
