I've tried installing sarge on my pc without any success:
Sarge seems not to find neither my cds nor my hds.

my components are:
GigaByte 8knxp
2 sata hds maxtor 80 gb.
radeon 9800pro

if anyone could tell me what to do i'd really aprreciate it;

I haven't had much luck on installing Debian on SATA drives. I have heard that some have had success with SuSE. I don't think I really answered your question but that's just what I have experienced.

Here are the drivers.

You will need to build a custom kernel with sata_sil installed.

I believe gentoo or some of the newer distro's support this chipset with less fuss though. I use 3ware cards, so I don't know exactly.
