Help CentOS 5.6 installation.

Hi,

I have a problem installing of centOS 5.6 from live CD.

I cannot see any option to install centOS 5.6 from live CD to hard drive on the desktop. Can anybody provide me with the steps for this.

Thanks.

Welcome to the forums!

CentOS is not a "beginner" distro, you'll need to read the instructions to have success. I recommend starting with the "Installation Guide."

http://wiki.centos.org/Documentation

The short answer to your question is that you've downloaded the wrong CD image. You need either the "DVD.iso" or the "netinstall.iso" for your architecture. You can't install from the Live CD.

Hi Snowpine,

Thank you for your information.

I have also tried installing centOS 5.6 using DVD.iso but did not find any option either

Thanks.

What ?

you boot the computer with it in the dvd drive -- bingo that IS THE INSTALL option -- and the ONLY one ( except for "rescue mode")

If you can not figure that out i suggest you use Ubuntu or go back to Windows

Windows might be for you

This link https://projects.centos.org/trac/liv...allToHardDrive explains why you cannot install the OS to the hard drive from a CentOS LiveCD. If you have a stable internet connection, I suggest to boot the NETINSTALL image. Furthermore, you may consider to install the newest release of CentOS: 6.0.
